Toorak Hotel

We have been visiting the TLH group of hotels for a number of years because it is a more relaxed venue when on holiday with children & grandchildren. But I think we will have to think hard before returning. We choose Terrace rooms at the Toorak when possible and taking into account that we pay nearly as much as a 4* hotel the standards are just not there. The staff are to be commended on their hospitality the faults with the complex are not down to them. The Chefs do an excellent job but the quality of the ingredients especially at breakfast are not really the best. No fresh fruit limited pastries only bread is cheap sliced. Certainly no mushrooms to be had at breakfast.Coffee is ok when machines work but no decaf. The rooms are ok but very dated and our bed was probably the most uncomfortable we have experienced for a long time. The housekeeping staff are amazing and very obliging but their job is not helped as two days a week you do not get housekeeping. There does seem considerably less entertainment going on in the last few years the Aztec restaurant and patio really need a makeover and a good clean very grubby. Our grandson managed to loose his small earplugs the games room staff were so helpful in locating them. They were sent to the Victoria hotel I called them and was a little miffed to be asked for £10 to send them back. Bearing in mind we had just spent nearing £5k in the resort over the 5 day stay. I know for a fact other hotels we visit would not dream of charging not really great customer relations. The £10 was for tracked delivery which they called me back to say they could not do first class post would be used. Still charged me the same on what would have been a couple of pounds. Not received them yet have also emailed manager of Toorak but not received any reply.

We stayed at the Toorak for a few days whilst visiting friends that live in Paignton . Our room was brilliant served our needs with a walk in shower . Met duty manager Yurll during our stay and he dealt with our queries with speed , was a very competent young man . The food was very nice and nothing was too much trouble . All staff were very polite . We went to the Derwent to see the entertainment during our stay in the evenings , nice to be able to Access this internally . Whilst staying we caught the train along the coast from Paignton to Exmouth lovely ride all along the coast . We would be pleased to stay here again . Thanks to one and all . 😊

Toorak hotel Torquay review I just stayed at this hotel, we hadn't booked and we needed a room for the night, but I absolutely do not recommend it! The only merit is the location, with a short walk you reach the sea, but otherwise it is truly terrible! Upon arrival we found two ladies at the reception who, however, had to call another manager on the phone whom they then passed to me: I admit that I don't speak English very well, but it is really not ideal to try to arrange an overnight stay in a messy hotel hallway! Anyway, in the end we accepted the room offered because it was late by then and there were no other options, even though when they showed it to us we noticed a series of defects! The hallways are already old and in poor condition, with conspicuous large patches to "repair" the holes in the old and ugly carpet, then we enter the room which is also quite large, but truly old and in poor condition like and more than the hallways! I won't go on making a list because I would never finish, I'll just point out a horrible and dirty curtain with huge tears! (See photo!) Naturally there is no air conditioning but a fan that helped us in the night heat, then in the morning breakfast was in line with the rest: immense (old) hall but very scarce buffet and with low quality products The staff also reflects the poor quality of the hotel; in fact, we did not encounter much kindness, with a few exceptions. In short, a hotel that certainly had a glorious past, but has been let go decidedly too much: avoid it!
