The Chocolate Boutique Hotel

What a sh**show! This is clearly not a “hotel” it’s a HOSTEL. We “upgraded” our room to be greeted with a broken bed which the “manager” took zero responsibility for and wasn’t on site at any point as soon as we checked in! We didn’t see her all weekend, and when we explained how dangerous it was, with clear drug users were trying to follow us into the “hotel”, we were told the key safe code, for the keys outside of the “hotel” and asked to remove all of the keys for safety! Sorry when were we security and not “guests?” We did this and after multiple complaints regarding the broken bed, we were offered another room and ensured that it was empty, the room wasn’t empty, it was occupied, we then called her back and were told to go to another room, this one thankfully was empty. Constant drug deals in the car park, parcels and letters all in the entrance of the “hotel” which isn’t very safe for anyone staying there and clearly shows it’s more of a HOSTEL than a “hotel”. We explained all of our issues to the manager and requested a refund, we were then met with nothing but rudeness and false allegations, this place is awful and absolutely definitely shouldn’t be listed as a “hotel” we will be taking things further and taking this to the ombudsman for a full refund and legal action. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Awful experience. Completely over priced, rude receptionist, room tiny and was not informed before hand there was scaffolding all around front of hotel. Falsely advertising they have satellite TV, manager came up and couldn’t even work the TV and then told my partner as it was a break for my birthday we shouldn’t be bothered about watching TV he should be taking me out!!! But we had stayed in another hotel the night before and had already been out to celebrate my actual birthday! Cheek of even saying it! I wanted full refund but no where was available and anything that was, was double the price. Never came across a manager, if that’s what she was that was so rude. Had to be falsely nice to her to get a part refund for no satellite tv and scaffold not advertised on bookings.com when all I wanted to do was 🥊 her, rude sarcastic ****! Only thing that was slightly good about this place was parking and location. Avoid at all costs!

The price and photos are a complete misrepresentation of what you get at this location. There's an overall sense of neglect and disrespect, with general uncleanliness and disrepair that would warrant a much cheaper price despite there already being a 40% discount applied, and yet as a guest, I was treated as if I was unreasonable in my complaints and refused a refund when I checked out upon witnessing the misleading description and realising that as a solo female traveller I wasn't safe with a group of men hanging around the building. There are no streaming services like Netflix on the TV as advertised, the bedding smells and feels damp, the window in one room was broken and sealed shut, the air conditioner is noisy, and with building works across the street, the entire brief experience was so unpleasant that I would not recommend, not even for one night. It beggars belief why, with such a great location and amazing architecture, more effort isn't made to make the place inviting to guests. It's as if the owners don't want any, at least none who will insist on a refund for the false advertising from photos that have clearly been staged to look better!!
