I recently stayed at the Best Western, Shaftsbury to meet up with family living nearby, had a lovely few days but would like to point out a few issues needing attention…having worked in Hospitality myself I would hope the Hotel with take the few issues on board as they are easily rectified… Room 45 the base of glass shower screen needs attention soonest (black mould) and some mould on ceiling from shower. Pillows were of poor quality, hard and flat, certainly not Hotel standard, housekeeping offered alternative, they were not any better. Had a lovely swim in pool only 2 of us in it, however some of the tiles on entering pool were broken…clearly a health & safety issue, another client said they had reported this many times over a year + but no action had been taken. Super Breakfast and Found staff to be pleasant and helpful.

I've stayed here numerous times and it's always been pretty good but this time I stayed in room 16, I didn't get much sleep as it sounded like a bomber plane flying overhead. I put ear plugs in which helped but you could still hear it. When I mentioned about it at check out the woman behind the desk said "Oh yes that's above the cellar, it does get noisy". Excuse me but IF IT'S LIKE THAT DON'T PUT PEOPLE IN THERE TO SLEEP!!! I found that the woman had a bit of an attitude as she wouldn't print off an invoice or put the points for staying there on my Best Western membership card, saying that it needed to be sorted on check in or check out... Ermm I was checking out!!

I stayed in this hotel recently, as part of a group booking for a car club of which I am a member. Firstly, I was overcharged by £5.10 to the rate advertised by our Club as a 'special rate' Secondly in my Room 2, I had no hot water for most of my stay. I tried to complain, but the staff on reception were not interested and just brushed me off with "well no one else has had a problem in that room" On my 2nd evening, when I got back to my room, I turned the hot tap on the show on as soon as I got in the room and made a cup of tea. After 30 minutes of running, the shower water was luke warm on the maximum heat setting. Normally when you turn the show heat setting to maximnum, its scalding - too hot, but not this just luke warm. On the Sunday morning, instead of a cold shower in my room I went down to the hotel swimming pool for a nice warm shower. The only positives were the bedroom was a very good size for a single occupancy with a king size bed that was very comfortable. Breakfast each morning was excellent, but the hotel is expensive, the staff are not that helpful and just a word of warning, the hotel does not do a lunch time food service. The kitchens are not open at lunchtime, so we had to go across the road to the pub to eat at lunchtime. I won't be in a hurry to go back to the hotel.
