First and foremost, our drivers Martin (going) & Richard (back) we lovely guys, very informative, told us all health & safety procedures! Lovely manner helping people on/off coach, nothing too much trouble getting crutches & walkers out of luggage compartment when we stopped at service stations.
We travelled from West Mids and didn’t have to touch our cases until we got to rooms at Weymouth.
Hotel very organised with cases, and a lovely touch from the Manager Mel coming into the coach to introduce herself!
Reception area had lots of info leaflets were to visit and the girls were lovely. My hubby is diabetic and it was no trouble for them to put and bring insulin out of fridge as and when we needed. There’s also a free phone at the side of reception for a free call to taxis we used once and it was a very quick service. Only gripe was no one had name badges on so we didn’t know anyone’s name. Reception all helped out in Dining area to get food to your table quickly. Food was hot and plates were, a good choice but a couple of nights we didn’t like what was on menu so went out but we had catered for this as hubby is a funny eater!
Our room was on second floor thank god for lift but with so many in hotel it was a bit slow but no matter it helped us out!
Room 206 was at back of hotel and it was so hot in there through safety reasons the windows only opened 6” so you can inagine the heat in room, we had no fan in there! New carpet, bed was a tad hard but got used to it.
Our shower was a bit high 6-8” but managed it. The wardrobe was very dated but was ok to use, could do with loose paper sticking down, and backing on curtain had been ripped …but had tea coffee facilities and a good sized TV in there, tables next to beds with touch lamps which were really handy! Housekeeping was good bed made lovely although we had to turn quilt back as we went in a heatwave. Asked bout fans at reception but they had a list for other rooms too, they couldn’t get any from anywhere, so a asked if I could have one out of dining area which I was allowed to do, it was a big relief to say the least!!
Met some nice people esp Jill & Ann, so lovely from Bham!
There a big ball room that holds quite a few people. Got entertainment, quiz, & bingo most nights, drinks were reasonably priced. If you didn’t want to be there and wanted a quiet drink there’s a lovely lounge with bar (wasn’t opened most nights except when England played Argentina in World Cup) but it’s quite there if you want to talk
Right on sea front 2 mins to beach
Some areas were a bit tired but I suppose that will be dealt with over time and some parts of carpet going to lift was thread bear but you have to remember it’s only a 3.7 star rating hotel and for what you pay it’s not bad at all
There’s trips from Prince Regent, Poole & Bournemouth £15 each person to be honest it’s not worth the money as we only had 90mins at Poole, and 1.5hrs at Bournemouth, no time to do or see anything, perhaps a full day in Poole one day of week and a day in Bournemouth would have been better just to get to Quay at Poole took us 30mins to get there from drop off point
But enjoyed the stay
