Best Western Honest Lawyer

We held our wedding reception here this weekend and we are so unbelievably happy that we chose The Honest Lawyer. We visited a number of venues before booking one, and from the first meeting with Jon, it just felt right. From that first introduction the best part of a year ago, right through to the morning after the big day when we checked out, our experience could not have been better. The feedback from our guests, many of whom stayed at the hotel, was unanimously excellent. Every member of staff we met contributed to it being such a special weekend and are all so friendly and helpful. A special mention has to go to Jon who helped organise our event in a way that the most elite Wedding Planners would be proud of. So thank you to Jon and all of the team at The Honest Lawyer. You all played your part in creating the most amazing memories that we will treasure forever.

Used to visit this for a meal including Sunday Lunch 2-3 times a week until a couple of years ago until the Sunday lunch was so bad and after complaining the response was terrible never went back. Thought to give it a go again for a meal and was absolutely shocked and disgusted at the appalling meal. Fish and chips reminded me of previously cooked frozen fish with soggy limp batter. The fish had a strong fishy smell which to the knowledgeable know this is indicative of old fish. Fresh fish hardly has any odour. The chips were old very dark brown skin on versions limp and were awful to eat and tasted stale. The gammon steak looked like it had been cooked on a radiator with raw fat/ rind again chips were terrible. Advertised salad was two pieces of lettuce with 3 tiny squares of peppers. The peas were extra and rock hard. The place looked scruffy and tired and a shadow of its former self when it was a nice place. They had installed a pool table which is astonishing in a food/ bar area. The menu was a photocopied laminated piece of A4 paper with multiple spelling mistakes through. Poor presentation. Whole place has given up. Sad really. Won’t be back.
