The Teesdale Hotel

A very picturesque hotel in the heart of Middleton in Teesdale where we stayed for two nights while walking in the area (great walks from the door!). We received a warm welcome from Jessie on arrival. The room was excellent - clean, comfortable and with all essential facilities. Dinner and the bar (very good Black Sheep) were good - the bar man (sorry, didn't get your name) was very friendly and professional. Breakfast was served by the delightful Fiona - nothing was too much trouble. Well done team Teesdale.

Stayed here before and enjoyed it and have just returned from another stay. At least as good as we remembered! We chose the dinner bed and breakfast package. Well worth it as the menu and quality of food is excellent. Particular favorites were the home smoked salmon starter, venison loin for main and delicious chocolate brownie for pud... The quality of the ingredients is great, including the cooked breakfast. Our room, 14, was large and comfortable and lovely and clean. Thank you to Dave and his staff. Great service, both friendly and efficient.

I stayed here for almost a week, for a bit of relaxation, walking and fishing. Booking online was easy, and I took the suggestion of booking a dinner table for my first night. Checking in was easy, the room was basic but spotlessly clean. The dinner menu seemed to rotate a set number of dishes, with one main changing very day, and I was never at a loss as to what to eat. Typical meals included venison hotpot, duck breasts, haddock and chips, and pies - the duck was to die for! There is a good choice of beers in the bar, and the whole staff from the licensee down were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This is not the place to go for a luxury experience, but if you want a comfortable break in a small town I would recommend most highly.
