The Falcondale Hotel & Restaurant

Stayed in the Gardener's Loft with my mum, sister and Ted the dog for 2 nights as a 'Perfect Paws' Bed & Breakfast Break. Ted had a lovely welcome basket with blankets & dogs bed. The package included cream tea and a pupcake, we upgraded to Afternoon tea which was absolutely lovely, great sandwiches, warm scones and very pretty delicate cakes. We ate in the bright & airy conservatory, there were excellent breakfast choices, attentive staff, plenty of tea & a cheeky sausage for Ted! We also booked an evening meal Sunday night, we had sea bass, goujons & chicken burger, everything well prepared and very tasty. The hotel has a beautiful Agatha Christie atmosphere and is set in well maintained grounds with lovely walks. The Gardener's loft was spacious and well appointed. We enjoyed a perfect dog friendly weekend, highly recommended & we will visit again.

This elderly hotel is a work in progress. It is being renovated. If you are allocated a renovated room, your experience may be very different from ours. Our room was definitely tired and not particularly clean. The bed appeared quite new and the room was cosy, thanks to a portable electric heater. It was all downhill from there. The furniture was worn, the carpet very worn. The bathroom was a bit of a disaster, with peeling paint. The shower was difficult to operate and when we eventually got it running, the water pressure was very weak. The toilet was difficult to flush, due to the pathetic water pressure. We used as little toilet paper as possible and almost resorted to filling the waste paper bin with water and using that to flush! On a positive note, the evening meal was good, the meal being tasty and well prepared. Breakfast started off well, but the staff were disorganised and run off their feet. They mixed up food orders and ran out of things, so not all orders could be filled. This place needs some work.

Had an excellent one night stay at The Falcondale as part of a car tour round Wales, room was nice, bathroom was excellent, setting was lovely, food in the restaurant was great, good nights sleep in the quiet location and ample parking. To top it off I discovered rarely found honesty, I had left my tablet in the room and checked out, they called to inform me and had it in the post and back to me ASAP.
