The Mowbray

We had booked to stay on a Friday night and awoke in the middle of the night to find our bed infested with bed bugs. There were no other hotels with availability locally and therefore we were forced to drive home in the early hours of the morning.

Terrible. No towels on our arrival at 4pm and was told to we would have to wait 45 mins on a boiling hot summers day we could not shower. When we eventually got towel we were given one small bath towel each, no hand towels. We booked a double room with kingsize bed and got 2 single beds pushed together. The beds had not mattress covers and they dipped when laid on, extremely uncomfortable. The pillows were so flat I even had to check if they had pillows inside. No pillow protectors just cotton pillowcases. The fan supplied was useless and did not cool the room. We requested an additional fan and was told there was none available. It was 30 degrees outside and that was cooler than our room. Only one out of the 3 sash windows opened, 2 were painted over so unable to open and one had the rope of the window snapped. So with no good air circulation the room was really hot and unbearable. There was no glasses to drink out of just 2 small complimentary bottles. The TV worked but unable to get any standard tv stations. The receptionist checked the tv and said we would have to log into our bbl player to watch tv. Bathroom window did not open. The shower gel provided was so small it was not enough for 2 people. I suggest wearing footwear when walking around in the room as the carpets left my feet dirty. Wee had paid for breakfast but after our experience with the room we did not bother even trying the breakfast. This should NOT be a 4 star hotel. We was charged £200 for this one night stay and feel it was not worth it, we had a terrible uncomfortable night. Extremely disappointed .

The quality of this hotel Is absolutely below par and the breakfast is completely The photos on the site are probably from the previous owner because it doesn't look like it. Rooms small and dirty A social owner who is calling. In short the star hotel Has absolutely no longer applied to this owner. Neglected!!
