I have stayed in the George a few times over the past year but communication with the Hotel and staff was poor until the new manager Jay arrived in August and his approach to service was faultless. While the Hotel is fit for purpose and reasonably priced it just that . Great location with lots of facilities nearby.

I stayed at The George Hotel for two nights while attending a retreat in Ashburnham, and the location was very convenient and close by, which was a big plus. The room was adequate for somewhere to sleep, and the bathroom itself was clean. Tea and coffee facilities were provided, along with a fridge, which was useful. However, the hotel could benefit from some maintenance and a deeper clean. The water pressure was quite low, the bathroom sink was cracked, and there was wallpaper stripping away in places. The floor also didn't appear to have been hoovered properly, and the carpets throughout the hotel looked quite worn and spoiled. The walls were also quite thin, so I could hear people walking around upstairs. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. Parking is limited behind the hotel, although street parking is available nearby. Overall, it was an okay stay for two nights and served its purpose due to the convenient location. However, the hotel would benefit from some refurbishment and improved attention to cleanliness and maintenance

Dirty hotel, stairs full of stains, welcome by gentleman behind counter, bad English talking. Room very oppressive and warm. Stood propeller making too much noise. At your own risk window opened, via stairs / emergency exit anyone can just walk in. All night noise above us, wooden ceilings. Did not go dark in room due to bright green emergency exit light. Dirty carpeting, dirty bathroom ... in my opinion should not call itself a hotel, terrible!!! The village Battle is nice, also delicious eaten in Italian restaurant under hotel, is separate from hotel.
