BEST WESTERN THE LAIRGATE

Great value for money hotel, great location. the room i had number 38 was spacious with a comfortable bed and the room was clean and tidy with well stocked tea and coffee

Lairgate Hotel is not really a hotel but more like an Airbnb. The location is perfect and it was wonderful to park in their car park. If you were unlucky and the car park was full there is a car park a few yards further up the road on the left but you would have to pay. You access the hotel via a code sent on the morning of your visit. Outside your room is a key safe, you put in your code and there are your two key cards. Room 17 was up about four flights of stairs. The room was very spacious with generous supply of tea, coffee and biscuits. It was a little tired but very clean. There were fans to cool the room and a fan heater to warm the room. The only thing missing was a hairdryer. There are very few staff who work incredibly hard and are very helpful if you can find one. We had breakfast at the King’s Arms which was excellent. We would certainly use this again.

Bed mattress was fit for the bin,, springs all shot and digging in all night,, hospitality tray provided but dirty full of old sugar and not cleaned once during our weeks stay,,, carpets dirty and marked,, curtains stained with paint,, room was cold,, bathroom was not cleaned once during our stay, drawers full of dust and old tissue so unusable, keep awake with old pipe noise every night,, and noise from people walking loudly in the room ubove,, also outside our room terrible water damage to communal hallway and stairs carpet which reeked badly, and although parking is available its not guaranteed as it gets full and your left having to pay for a local car park not ideal,, overall a bad experience I will bever book here again, best avoided
