East Gate Inn

A warm, welcoming environment with reasonably priced drinks and great hosts. We held a private family birthday party here with no troubles. Lovely decor on the inside of the pub and bartenders happy to engage in chats, we will defo be coming back to the east gate inn when we are next in Colchester.

Friendly staff as mentioned in a lot of the other reviews. Rooms a little on the small side, but that's the due to the building being so old. Clean and has everything you need. Nice shower with great water pressure. Good price (55 GBP) found on booking.com. For that, you can't go wrong. 4pm check-in time slightly annoying/late

Stayed here while visiting a relation for their 80th birthday, although we had a friendly welcome, the room and the double bed were rather small, the window needed a clean as did the carpet. i don't think we would stay there again if the need arose
