Swan Hotel

My friend and I are staying in Thaxted for a couple of days and thought we would go for a cooked breakfast at the Swan Hotel. Not a happy experience. We arrived at 9.15 and enquired as to the availability of breakfast. We were told to sit anywhere. We perused the menu and opted for a traditional English breakfast which included a continental option in the price of £12.50. We helped ourselves to 2 small glasses of juice and a small cup of tea whilst we waited for the service staff to take our order. After waiting several minutes whilst she cleared away all the remaining continental breakfast bits and having to again ask about ordering, we placed our order. The breakfast arrived sometime later and was not of a high standard (sausages undercooked and cheap tasting, bacon fatty, fried egg swimming in grease) but hot. On finishing the meal we went to pay and to our total disgust we were told it would be an extra £5+ for the juice and tea. After debating this we were told that the continental option had been cleared away and not available so the tea ect were an additional cost. This was not explained to us when we pointed out our required option on the menu. If this had been explained on arrival we would not have stayed and looked somewhere else. The staff attitude was not welcoming from start to finish. We experienced vacuuming around us and spraying cleaning products whilst we ate our meal. After this experience we will not be going again. RIPPING OFF PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS IS NOT VERY GOOD PRACTICE IN THIS CLIMATE WHERE THIS SORT OF LEISURE INDUSTRY IS STRUGGLING.

I went into the swan for a drink and some food with family and the 2 girls at the bar were incredibly rude. I got given a rude look and got told to f*** off by the blonde haired short girl. I won’t be coming here again, poor mannered.
