Abode Chester

I booked 4 rooms in January to stay on a B&B Basis on /7/26 for 1 night. I have just been told that I have a Continental Breakfast and we must pay extra per item for a Hot Breakfast. Had I known this I would have stayed somewhere else - be careful with this money grabbing Hotel

My stay at the Abode in Chester was chaotic to say the least. A wedding and a funeral all within a few days. The staff were caring and supportive. They feel like lifelong friends/family. They saw I was falling apart and supported me all the way. The staff went out of their way to accommodate any issue I had. (I had many). They allowed me to laugh and to cry, they made me laugh and cry. I was a mess but, they didn't judge me, they helped me manage my journey. Never in my wildest years could I have imagined a more caring and loving staff than at the Abode Chester. Well done!!! You all have a fan for life.

Hotel location is great for walking into the city centre. Reception area looks nice and inviting. Rooms however are a bit tired looking and we found vomit on the en suite door which we only realised when we went to wipe it. Beds comfy but soft. Tv reception is very poor so we were limited to a few channels are the rest were intermittent. USB charging points are labelled with a small label and not very clear and are under the light fitting either side of the bed. Biggest issue for us was the breakfast. We booked it to include breakfast - we booked one room via hotel direct and one room for our friends via booking.com. Paying more than usual weekends as the races were on (which we didn’t go to) Both stated breakfast. When we went for breakfast all that’s on offer is one cup of tea or coffee (tea was greyish in colour, and water wasn’t hot enough from the urn to stew it!) cereals- choice of 3, a big basket of fruit (I chose a plum but it wasn’t ripe!) one glass of fruit juice which we had to chase with the waitress. Then there is a menu of a handful of items including porridge or toast and croissant. We went for toast and croissants which was ok but a bit bland (one white, one brown toast and a large croissant) Cooked breakfast is an additional extra which I was reluctant to pay after paying enough for an ok room! Parking is very limited, all spaced had gone by the time we arrived at 12pm but I was glad as it would have been £20 overnight, and we found a car park across the road for £5 overnight instead! Shame as the hotel Location is great for city centre but I feel the prices, breakfast offerings and rooms need to be reviewed to give more value for money.
