The Bristol in Bristol really is a lovely hotel. I found the decor rather stunning which, if you care about your surroundings and want your eyes pleased, is important. Its location is good with one side facing a tributary of the River Avon with a delightful al fresco bar/restaurant called Ricks close to the water. We found the staff exceptionally charming and helpful. I booked an accessible room due to severe arthritis and the staff offered me assistance at every step. My friends had a small dog with them which was allowed (with a charge but big dogs not permitted) and the check-in staff even registered her name. I haven't stayed in a hotel in the UK for years so I'm glad this was such a positive experience.

Despite opting for the classic double room, it was more spacious than expected. Very clean. Comfy bed. Air con machine worked beautifully in the current heat. Great shower. Soft large towels. 503 is not a quiet room, as riverside, so you can hear the beats of the music (through closed windows), but that didn't bother us. Perfectly placed for exploring Bristol.

Do not stay here if you want to sleep. Banging music until 3am mid-week due to a new night club over the way. Repeatedly woken up by the music and associated vibrations in the night. Reception thought it was okay as it ended at 3am and couldn’t move my room due to the hotel being full. Great hotel but fails at the first hurdle now as you can’t sleep, it is genuinely like youve been put in the middle of a rave.
