We stayed here for one night while travelling to Minehead and, unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we’ve had. The main reason we chose this hotel was because it advertised air-conditioned rooms. We arrived during 28°C weather only to be greeted by a sign at reception informing guests that the hotel was undergoing refurbishment and that there was no air conditioning. This was never mentioned when we booked. Had we known, we would have booked somewhere else. The room was unbearably hot. A fan had been left in the room, but it barely made any difference, making for a very uncomfortable evening. The refurbishment also meant there was a strong smell of fresh paint throughout the hotel, which gave me a headache. Again, there was no warning about this before we arrived. The shower was honestly one of the worst I’ve used in a hotel. The water pressure was so poor it barely came out of the shower head. I couldn’t rinse the shampoo from my hair, and when I tried turning the temperature down from being far too hot, the water pressure dropped to little more than a trickle. To make matters worse, the shower head was fixed to the wall, making it even harder to rinse properly. Reception’s solution was to let us use the shower in the room next door. While I appreciated the attempt to help, it wasn’t a practical solution. I was already covered in shampoo, and my husband, who has mobility issues, struggled because the alternative shower was over a bath. It simply wasn’t suitable. The final straw came at bedtime. We pulled out the sofa bed for our daughter only to discover there were no pillows for her anywhere in the room. We searched everywhere. The only reason she had pillows was because we still had access to the neighbouring room after using its shower, so we had to borrow pillows from there ourselves. A family room should be properly prepared for the number of guests staying. The staff were polite, but the overall experience fell far below what we expected from a Ramada by Wyndham hotel. Advertising air conditioning when it isn’t available, failing to warn guests about refurbishment, providing an almost unusable shower and not even supplying enough bedding for all guests is simply not acceptable. We left feeling hot, frustrated and thoroughly disappointed. Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel, and I certainly wouldn’t stay here again.

Stopped in for a quick drink on the way home from a busy day. Callum was so refreshing and considerate. He was very polite and attentive. Recommend the bar to all!

Do not book this hotel. Our room’s air conditioning was broken during a heat wave, making the room unbearably hot and completely unsuitable for staying with a young baby. The conditions were so poor that we could not even stay in the room. We raised the issue with the hotel at the time and were promised a refund because of the situation. However, after we returned home, the hotel denied the refund through Expedia, despite the earlier promise. This was extremely frustrating and left us feeling completely misled. The hotel is also dated and clearly in need of improvement. Combined with the broken air conditioning, the unsafe conditions for our baby, and the refusal to honour the promised refund, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we have had. I would strongly advise other travellers, especially families with young children, to avoid booking this hotel.
