Chiseldon House Hotel

One night stay in this lovely hotel in the countryside in the pretty village of Chisledon. Had a very nice afternoon tea after a drink on the terrace overlooking the lovely gardens. The staff were really friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. It was a seriously hot day and they did all they could to help everyone stay cool. The bedroom was in the old part of the manor house and was large, lovely with lots of original features and very clean. Dinner in the evening was excellent, really great menu and beautifully cooked. We can recommend the twice baked Stilton souffle with pear and walnut salad and the chicken parfait. Main courses of gnocchi with pesto and roasted veg and parmesan salad was delicious as was the salmon with smoked salmon and caviar risotto. Thank you to the great chef who must have been so hot cooking in the heat. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. Thank you so much to all of the staff.

I stayed in this lovely, elegant hotel as a member of a guitar workshop. It retains its early-19th century charm and features, whilst still meeting the needs of a 21st century guest. The gardens are superb, laid out in lawns and huge trees, including a Cedar of Lebanon which stands out in its nobility. The interior of the house and bedrooms are immaculately decorated in early-19th century style with antique furniture and chinoiserie wallpaper. The food is delicious, amazing and varied. Another standout feature is the kindness, hospitality and efficiency of the hotel staff, who really cannot do enough for the guests. The staff really make this hotel such a wonderful experience.

We had a great stay. Friendly and attentive staff, spacious rooms, gorgeous outside area and good food. Pet- and child friendly. Drawbacks for us was that there are no fridges in the rooms, and that the shower and bathtub looked a bit grimy. We scrubbed the tub ourselves before giving the little one a bath. Otherwise we found our rooms nice and clean. When we asked for sugar cubes for tea at breakfast, they were already there for us next time. They remembered little details like what kind of toast and coffee/tea preferences. When we came in late we were asked to show our room key, which made us feel very safe. Overall very happy with our stay.
