Volunteer Inn

We were excited to begin the Cotswold Way and the Volunteer Inn was our PreWalking Hotel. We had a larger room with an ample bathroom, and were grateful for the space. We had an order sheet to select our breakfast the night before, which was a nice touch, especially if you are (like us) hoping for an early start. We stayed here on a Saturday night, so it was noisy as it is where the locals congregate, but it was a bit charming to feel as if the pub was more authentic. Right on High Street, so you can walk everywhere in town. We took a bus from Moreton-in-Marsh, so cannot speak to the parking, but were able to park our luggage before check in.

Our room 4 was quite sub standard Noisy compressor outside our room. The room is small with little space for luggage. Room over looks the an outside bar area with loud tv coverage in the afternoon and evenings, with noisy patrons at night. The room had 2 light fittings with bare globes and only 1 working. The switch by the entrance door. No bedside lighting. The bathroom has a light that didn’t work over the very small and very low sink. The cramped bathroom shower door so narrow it’s hard to slide in and out. The only usable Power points are on a wall at floor level at the end of one of the beds. Room supplied was with twin beds and we are a married couple. Overall, poorly appointed Totally dissatisfied. Only positive was the cooked breakfast which was very good.

We stayed at the Volunteer Inn (Room 1) for one night and were very impressed with our stay. Once we arrived we were greeted by Alfie who took us to our room. He was very helpful and pleasant. We dined at the Indian restaurant on site and the food was excellent. The following morning Kim made us our breakfast and the poached eggs were the best I have had in a very long time. I would highly recommend the Volunteer Inn.
