Hallmark Hotel Gloucester

I book spa for mum birthday over spaseekers.. it went perfect till arranging time slot. They had very unsuitable timings then have cheek to say one person gets full lot but other get 30 mins but no access to anything and to come back but i live too far and why should i pay more for less im getting. Never go to the spa here!!! Got my refund in the end.

Not great. Not very clean and needs updating. We have stayed here a few times before and have really enjoyed it, and so we were looking forward to coming back but things have changed and we won’t be back again. On arrival we were asked for id, passport or drivers licence, never been asked for that at any hotel in this country before and was told no id no room. This was not stated at the time of booking nor have we been asked on previous visits. The draught pumps were out of service and bottles were limited choice. Had a glass of wine instead. At dinner I asked for a bottle of the same wine that I had earlier to share and there were no more bottles, so had a different wine. Ordered garlic mushrooms and the waitress apologised politely no garlic mushrooms so ordered the prawn cocktail instead. At this point we were the only guests in the restaurant,40 minutes later after serving customers that had arrived after us a handful of very small prawns with a little bit of lettuce arrived, that was all, no mayonnaise no thousand island dressing, no cucumber, tomato or bread of kind just prawns and lettuce (£10) I asked for some mayonnaise which the waitress got for me. To be fair the waitress was very polite and helpful and I am totally aware that none of my issues were her fault. Mains were better and quicker to arrive. Room was not very clean, mouldy and dusty, black crusty grime in showerhead and hose, although the bedding seemed clean. There were dirty walls in the bar area, wine glasses had lipstick on.

Awful experience. I stay away at least once a week with work and I can honestly say this is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. On check in I was asked for ID which I’ve never been asked before anywhere else. In asking why I was told there had been a lot of trouble and damages to the rooms. This didn’t fill me full of confidence. The rooms as passable as a 2 star but definitely not a 4 star. Gym was ok which was the only positive I could find. On going to the bar to have a drink and food I was told I couldn’t have anything from the pump as this wasn’t working and hadn’t worked for weeks. I settled for a bottle from the fridge which had limited choice. I ordered a soup and prawn cocktail. On asking for a vat recipe I was told they couldn’t produce one, not sure if that’s legal. Anyway 45 mins no soup or prawn cocktail. On giving the staff a nudge the food turned up 10mins later so nearly an hour. The soup was on but the prawn cocktail was a handful of prawns on a lettuce leaf, no tomato or cucumber. I went back to the room to relax and then I found out the tv channels weren't working. I nearly decided to drive home but stuck it out. As you can imagine in the morning I didn’t want to take a chance with breakfast so just checked out. On check out didn’t get asked how everything was, good job to be fair.
