Best Western The Compass Inn

Food, no complaints in fact compliments, very well done and a good serving. The server behind the bar was appalling, rude, clearly not wanting to be in the hospitality industry. Both draft ales ran out before 1945hrs. When we were leaving all doors but one were shut causing all guests to walk along an unlit road to the car park, difficult for the elderly/infirm guests.

In need of a clean, refresh and politer staff. The first thing you notice when entering the hotel is the musty smell. The room and bathroom were dated and worn. The bath plug was blocked so a quick shower turns the bath into a paddling pool and the bathroom was crawling with spiders and silverfish. The TV didn’t work and the walls were incredibly thin so you could hear everything your neighbours were doing. There was a misunderstanding about breakfast which I tried to resolve but was spoken to very rudely.

By far the dirtiest, most poorly managed, and most unfriendly place I’ve ever stayed. The manager was absolutely disgraceful—rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to accept any criticism. There was no WiFi, the door didn’t even have a lock, and the entire place was filthy and clearly neglected. The moment we raised our concerns, instead of trying to resolve anything, he threw us out and still charged us the full price of the stay. He refused to acknowledge the appalling condition of the property or take any responsibility whatsoever. This was one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. It’s an embarrassment to the Best Western brand. I would strongly advise anyone to NOT BOOK and stay somewhere else. Absolutely not recommended!
