Cairn Bay Lodge

We are on a 2 week vacation in Northern Ireland and Ireland. Outside of Belfast we stayed 2 nights at Cairn Bay Lodge. The hotel is adorable. The views overlooking the bay is awe-inspiring. The room was spacious but felt cozy. I can’t say enough nice things. Chris, our host, was everywhere doing everything. He and his staff were very friendly. We ate breakfast each morning before exploring around Belfast. The food and service were excellent. If you want you holiday to feel special, Cairn Bay Lodge is a very good start.

Firstly, Jenny and Chris when we eventually met them were very good hosts. On arrival by car we were left to try to gain access to the premises (at appx. 15:40) by the main front door only to find it was locked. After a 5 minute wait a friendly dog (Rico) and a staff member found us wandering about the car park. Not a good start. The eventual check in was friendly and informative. The building was not what we expected from the information we had prior to booking. It was however very clean and the furnishings were of a bygone age but very interesting. Our room was spacious and was warm with a king size bed. For my wife there was a lack of a decent sized mirror to allow her (or any woman) to get dressed. To be fair their were 2 small round (appx 7") mirrors within the hanging bedside tables but at height that was not suitable for much other than room decoration. The Bathroom was spotless with abundant very very hot water at the sink. The hot water tap was quirky in that it's on / off function was different to the cold water tap. Breakfast was excellent and everything seemed very fresh indeed. None of the tables when set for breakfast had salt and/pepper condiments. We always had to ask for these to be supplied. On our last day we had to share with another couple also having breakfast. Did we enjoy our stay, YES we did. We rate this guest house as very good, especially when you become aware of the houses contents. Pricing we thought in hindsight was slightly expensive. We had looked at other locations and I would have expected to pay around the £170 pound mark. Would I return again YES I certainly would.

My husband and I stayed at Cairn Bay Lodge for 6 nights recently. Wonderful experience with Chris as a great host and Jane making us feel so welcome and valued in the dining room. Our room was gorgeous with lovely en-suite, comfortable bed and fantastic bay view. Breakfast was delicious! Thank you to you and all your great staff. We will be back! 🤞🏻 Lynda
