Careys Manor Hotel

We just got back having spent the weekend here with my wife for our wedding anniversary. First, the positives are that it’s a nice location, and the meal we had on the first night in the Thai restaurant was lovely, pricey but good quality and good service. The spa is superb, the hydrotherapy pool area was good if a little busy, but the couples massage was one of the best we’ve experienced. The negatives massively let this hotel down and don’t justify the £300 a nights we paid. It’s extremely tired, rooms are a dated, they’re skin-flint on the room supplies, and when the maid knocked on our door to clean our room at 9.30 on Saturday, and we weren’t quite ready, my wife got huffed at. Not what expect from a so-called quality hotel. Then there’s the breakfast, I’ve had way better at premier inn’s than here with better service. Slow, they seem to forget you after your order, and the food quality was frankly terrible. Basil Fawlty would have been disgusted! Overall, we can’t help feeling disappointed and ripped off. If you’re thinking of staying here for the Spa, my advice, there are much better value and quality hotels nearby, and just visit the Spa for the day. Otherwise give this joint a wide berth unless you get a really really good deal on the rooms.

Guys I dont do reviews but this hotel needs to sort its food offering out . We booked a 2 night stay which came with continental breakfeast for just over £200 per night Firstly the room, I've seen the reviews but ours was great,first floor modern decor in good order over looking the garden , very nice. Okay it didnt have air con which would have been a problen in the summer and as we were room 69 , just 5 m from the newly inslalled kitchen exstractor fans to the new Indian resurant . Hope you like curry. And if I wanted tobe picky as resently refurbed it could have had USB sockets for phones etc. Wife is a serious swimmer and reported pool is a good lenght and very quiet . First night evening meal in the Cambium resurant order a Signature supper which looked good value at £23 for 2 courses . The main of Chicken schnitzel was over cooked with mine badley burnt and not have left the kitchen. The waiting staff who were great were apologetic and we agreed not to pay for the meal. Not a great experience and we wont be eating there again. Second night we went to the Zen garden. Lovely staff, great setting and lovely food. Highly recomended. Breakfeast is my main issue . When we come away we look forward to the breakfeast, its a highlight of our stay . (sad I know ). When Iam paying over £200 per night I would expect a good breakfeast included. The continental offering was ok, just. If you wanted a cooked breakfeast you pay extra. I went for a small cooked breakfast at £8 to check it out . 1 sausage, 1 slice of beacon, 1 v small poached egg and a hash brown that was flat and hard. Poor quality and a ripoff. Overal nice hotel and pleasent staff, food lets it down

We stayed for two nights in one of the ground floor Oakwood rooms overlooking the gardens. The hotel itself has a gentle old fashioned country lodge feel which fits in perfectly with the whole New Forest scene. The room was spacious the bed linen and bathroom immaculate and the bed huge and very comfortable. All the staff were really kind cheerful and helpful but particularly Lewis on the reception who went the extra mile to change our room at very short notice- I had accidentally booked a first floor room but needed a ground floor one and her sorted this out for us in a very gracious and courteous manner. The breakfasts gave lots of choices for lighter options and special diets. The free swimming pool steam room and sauna were all great but it is worth paying for the hydrotherapy suite if like us you had aching muscles from all the walking or cycling. The water jets were some of the best I've experienced. We booked the Thai restaurant on both evenings and were not disappointed, yes it's pricey but the food is really good. On the second night we really wanted to eat very light and they were perfectly happy with this. We would definitely come again to this hotel.
