ibis Southampton

This was probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Starting from checkin in a lobby that is a disaster (dirty, unorganized, visibly messy, small) to the hallways to the rooms (we had two), it didn't get any better. Rooms were hot, with no fans. Beds were VERY uncomfortable. Bathrooms were both dirty - to the point we would not set into the shower. Vanity was not clean. Paper cups provided leaked (using bottled water as we would not drink from the faucet, given the cleanliness of the rest of the facility). Got ice from the front desk (handed to in paper cups) and found dirt/foreign material frozen in it. Our room key cards stopped working around 9 am - had to get them reprogrammed. Just a terrible experience all around.

I stayed here during a city break and it did the job as I literally needed just a place to spend the 2 nights of my trip. The room was quiet, clean, light and airy (view over the retail park nearby), the bed was comfortable, the bathroom appliances were functional but there was no toilet brush. The TV was kind of faulty, there was no phone - I had to go and speak to receptionist in person, my room being situated on the top floor. The major benefits were the good price and location - close to the railway station and to my points of interest in the city.

Stayed here whilst visiting a friend and watched Southampton FC. It’s fine for what it is. I needed a bed. Basic but clean. And prices correctly. Didn’t have breakfast. My only concern if any, was the vast amount of rats that were congregating near the EV charging ports. Safe to say, once these were identified, I swiftly moved my car!
