Mortimers Cross Inn

With only a week to go before our wedding, we decided to treat ourselves to breakfast out – and what a find The Grange at Mortimer’s Cross turned out to be! From the outside, you’d never guess what lies beyond those walls. A huge garden, a lovely outdoor seating area, and inside… well, let’s just say it’s a food lover’s dream come true. It was their Facebook posts of gorgeous-looking food that tempted us in, but the real thing blew us away. Locally made food and drinks, a deli counter, fridge and freezer section bursting with goodies… and then the cakes. Oh. My. Goodness. I died and went to cake heaven. They look amazing online, but in real life? A hundred times better. You can see they’re homemade with love, not mass-produced. First place I’ll be heading for tea and cake after the wedding (just need to fit into my dress first!). The gift shop section is full of things you never knew you needed – make-your-own popcorn on the cob, wine and gins, and quirky gifts that somehow end up in your basket because, well, why not? The food menu had something for everyone. My partner has a severe mushroom allergy, and so many places shy away from serving us because of it. Not here. The lovely waitress checked with the chef, who double-checked everything and even explained it might take a little longer while they made sure the kitchen was allergy-safe. A short while later, out came a piping hot Full English with proper sausages, local eggs, thick-cut bacon and real baked beans. Then came a big breakfast bap with proper sausages, bacon with melted cheese, which was off the menu. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it – it was chef’s kiss delicious. Fresh coffee, a pot of tea, and friendly service made it the perfect pre-wedding breakfast date. Highly recommend and we can’t wait to come back!

I don’t like leaving a bad review but after much deliberation as to where to go for Sunday lunch, I booked a table here. Arrived just after 1 and were the only ones there which was fine. We all had the beef. Unfortunately the beef was beef slices and not off a joint, the parsnips and potatoes were hard and the gravy was watery and tasteless. The cauliflower cheese was very nice . The Yorkshire puddings were not well made and cold…left feeling very gutted I had chosen there. Lovely produce in farm shop. Came away very gutted and disappointed unfortunately

Got there late morning expecting breakfast to be finished serving. Although the menus had been collected off the tables the lady said she would cook us some Very good breakfast's, they even checked the order was correct once we sat down as there were changes to the menu we asked for Prices are good under £10 for a large one
