The property is located just off the one-way system near the main town centre. There’s no dedicated parking, but nearby street parking is free for two hours between 08:30–18:30 and unlimited after hours and on Sundays. You can briefly stop on the double yellow lines outside to drop off your luggage.
Check-in and Communication:
I called a week in advance to request an early arrival so I could get changed for a wedding, which was agreed to. However, on the day, the situation felt awkward due to the cleaner being in the room and being stroppy about the room not finished being cleaned so we could drop our bags off. There was also no communal space available to change in. The check-in (5–8pm) and check-out (10am) times are also not the most convenient.
First Impressions:
From the outside, the property has some charm, but there’s a fine line between “antique aesthetic” and simply “aged and worn”, and this place sits somewhere in between.also

Arrival Experience:
There’s clear signage outside. After climbing three stone steps and ringing the bell, you enter a very small reception area which smelled of laundry from a nearby dryer. From there, more carpeted stairs lead up to Room 4, and then a narrow set of steps (with an aged grey carpet) to a loft area with two single beds and a double bed.
The Room:
We stayed in Room 4 which was in the attic.
The room features wood floors, pine furniture, a few old prints and books, and exposed wooden beams, which are the main character feature. However, the decor feels a little tired. There’s a small fridge, coffee-making facilities, and air conditioning. The bathroom is very small and you could barely sit on the commode with your knees banging into the shower cubicle or the toilet roll holder.
Also the other hazard was the steep steps down from the room with an awkward turn to the room door —tall guests should beware of low beams.
The single-glazed window lets in both cold air and early morning light, and you’ll hear creaks from other rooms, doors slamming, birds on the roof, and noise from the street and cleaning trolleys early in the morning.
Other Notes:
There’s no breakfast provided, which, given the setup, might actually be a blessing.

Overall:
A quirky, characterful property that may suit those looking for something different and don’t mind a few inconveniences—but between the awkward check-in, lack of comfort, and noise, it’s not the most relaxing stay.
