DeSalis Hotel London Stansted

Cheap flight from Stansted needed a night stay nearby. DeSalis was exactly that. Booked a single room and paid the £6.20 to park. Arrived at 8pm and left just after 4am for my flight. I was in room 8A which was a single room with a double bed. Clean and comfortable and just on the other side of the doors to the main restaurant. The shower room was small, but the shower was amazing. Loads of options and buttons for every type of clean. The car park there is huge and stores loads of cars, presumably people use their shuttle service and option of long term parking. I'd booked the Stansted Mid Stay which was about a 5-10 minute drive from the hotel. For EV drivers the local M11 services have lots of chargers (incl. Tesla) so you can get a full charge there either before you get there or on your way home. It may be easy to criticise, but the only thing that was wrong, was the WiFi was very poor. There is a TV with plenty of channels, but being in the middle of nowhere there's not much phone signal. Advise downloading something to watch before you arrive.

Whilst the hotel is close to Stansted airport I would not recommended, it would be better to spend that little bit extra and feel at ease. The shuttle runs once every few hours from the airport and trying to find an uber is impossible to get from the hotel to the airport, so in turn you have to pay £15 for a shuttle provided by the hotel to the airport (for a less than a 10 minute journey). Immediately as we walked in there was silence in the hotel and no one to be seen. Everyone is in plain clothes so impossible to tell who is actually working and who is a customer. The room itself can be described as needing a major upgrade and we, as two young females, did not feel safe in the slightest as the whole hotel had an eerie feel to it. Fast forward to the next morning and at 6:35 we are awoken by a fire alarm just to go out and be rudely told that we should go back to our rooms and it is nothing to worry about. There is no customer service and they do not care about you or your stay. I would stay far away from this place and we will never book it again. We saw two other customers the whole time we were there and now I can understand why.

Cheap and cheerful. Conveniently close to Stansted, although transport to and from a bit expensive. Rather eclectic ambience. Room clean, shower great. No bedside illumination so you have to stumble in the dark to get from light switch to bed. Could do with some renovations tbh. For a simple overnight stay, fine. For a longer duration, I would seek elsewhere.
