Hertford House

This is an excellent small hotel. I was slightly put off by some negative reviews but found the hotel really nice with friendly, conscientious and very helpful staff and I discovered that the poor reviews date from before the ownership and management of Hertford House changed. I certainly found absolutely nothing to complain about! My room, although a single, was quite large enough and well-appointed with several little touches like biscuits with the tea and coffee making facilities and a full range of bathroom toiletries. It was also spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and generous and the restaurant was attractive and relaxing. The location is absolutely central and was perfect for a place to stay after a concert at the Corn Exchange. All in all I can highly recommend Hertford House Hotel and wish the new owners well in a project they clearly really care about. I’ll be back!

A very disappointing experience. The room was stiflingly hot and there was no air conditioning. The shower had no hot water. After the room had been serviced on the second day, we found that some vital medical equipment we had in the bathroom had been damaged. The worst hotel experience we have ever had.

Our first trip to Hertford and what a wonderful town. Hertford house hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast and meals in the fore restaurant were amazing. We definitely would stay again.
