Lovat Arms Hotel

We were 3 couples travelling together, the rooms were booked in May 26. We paid £450 for 3 nights B&B. When we arrived we were asked to follow the manager outside, where he took us around the corner completely separate from the hotel to a detached run down house. Later I asked to speak to the manager to advise him that we were not happy with the room. The reason for this was the room was small & we had weeds growing half way up the window, we also had an old bath & ladders out the back, when we said this he said & what do you want to to do about it, so I asked for another room but was told there wasn’t one, so I asked for a discount, which eventually got, we also told him the TV wasn’t working and he said he was too busy to see to it. The manager should not be in hospitality with an attitude like his. .on the last day they changed breakfast to a buffet style & the food was cold. The poor barman was left on his own to look after 2 bars & the reception. Will never go back.

Great wee hotel in a lovely location, the rooms are big with everything you could need. Friendly staff and a bar with a pool table and darts. Even got some free entertainment from some random guy with a saxophone who walked in and asked if he could play 😂 very Scottish as would be expected up this way 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💪🏻

.The hotel overall seemed a little tired (Anaglypta wallpaper, that kind of thing) but it’s a country hotel, so it comes with the territory. The main reason for 1 star was the awkward atmosphere created by a member of staff. We’d checked in late in the evening, so hoped to get a late check out. The young woman said she’d have to check, so we waited at reception. A guy with a man bun appeared and started to berate her. Telling her “customers can’t decide when to leave” and “for these things there needs to be a protocol”. So telling her off at reception where we could hear every word. It was so bad another guest ended up coming over and asking for the owners details to make a complaint. TBH I don’t think a late check out is an unusual request. Really felt terrible for the young woman as she was simultaneously running reception, taking/serving breakfast. She was really nice and trying to help, so for her to receive a public dressing down over something so trivial was really awful
