Stronlossit Inn

I have read several revues this morning re the stronlossit hotel/public bar. Yes I class it as a public bar joined onto to the hotel.Myself & my two walking pals have been patronising the place for near on 30 years & yes it as had good times & some pretty tough times. Over the past er 4,5 years it has had an influx of Eastern European management & staff. One as to understand the demure of these people towards their body language.Like most establishments it is run on a tight staff budget to survive hence the staff are over worked and basically exhausted.O K you say get more staff doesn’t work like that.We are on our way up to Roy bridge next week staying at a lodge at bunroy camp site a nice 7 minute walk to the stron & will be eating & drinking there for at least 5 nights.Its basic pub grub & good ale to finished off with fine malts.We have never stayed at the hotel as we have camped over the years until I read the riot act re comfortable accommodation. To which I can certainly recommend bunroy camp site.Over the years Scotland has had a huge influx of European workers and the need to understand their demur is needed.I hope this gives virgin tourists into Roy bridge an insight into the Stron !! We enjoy the public bar every year after a tough day on the hills around. p.s the views towards the grey corries are enough to make you linger a while.

Our first stop of our road trip & a very comfortable, friendly stay with good food. Strange old smell in the corridor but the room itself was light, bright & airy. Had everything we needed for our overnight stay. Beds comfortable and slept well. At £17 we chose not to have breakfast but we did have an evening meal that we both enjoyed and prices were the same as at home.

We stayed in several hotels on our recent Scotland tour but this was by far the most expensive and by far the worst. We had already booked on booking.com and the first red flag when we arrived was that the was no one on reception. We booked two rooms - one for me and my husband, and one for our adult daughter. There was a bell to ring and a young man, not particularly friendly, appeared from private quarters. It immediately seemed more like a mediocre motel rather than an expensive hotel. Breakfast was NOT included and cost an extra £15.95 each which we paid in advance for convenience. The young man called the manageress to show us our rooms. She also appeared from private quarters. She had a young child with her who kept trying to attract her attention while she showed us our rooms - very unprofessional. Both rooms were very small indeed and the lights were so dim that we couldn’t read or look at maps so we sat in the bar. The bar person, again had to be summoned by a bell, and was the same young man from reception. The only other people in the bar was a group of foul-mouthed men so we went back to our rooms. Our window had been left open by staff and it was only after we closed it and went to bed that we realised that the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke. There was also a dubious stain on the carpet. Everything was shabby and the bathroom door scraped the floor very noisily, so no quiet trips to the loo in the night! We had high hopes for the breakfast at £15.95 each but it was very meagre - just cereal and a small cooked breakfast. What we had was nice but absolutely not worth the money at all. Not a warm welcome although the breakfast room girls in the morning were very pleasant. All in all, very poor value for money and the breakfast was a rip off. Will definitely not be returning.
