Crown Court Town House Hotel

Location is great, about 5min walk from the centre of Inverness, the kitchen wasn't operational while we were there, but plenty of local close suggestions for food given by the manager Tarek, who was very helpful and polite with anything we needed. The rooms were recently decorated to a high standard, warm and cosy, very quiet considering its is situated next to a road junction, didnt hear a thing and got a great night's sleep! WiFi worked throughout the whole building, tvs were smart tvs so was able to connect my tv apps etc

Travelers who are sensitive to cigarette smoke should be aware of our experience. We stayed for four nights in Room 9 in September 2026 and, unfortunately, found ourselves increasingly concerned about the condition of both the room and the property as a whole. The hotel generally had a strong stale cigarette-smoke odor, which was noticeable throughout much of the building. More concerningly, on Saturday evening I repeatedly noticed what appeared to be fresh cigarette-smoke odor seeping into our room from elsewhere. I did not see anyone smoking and cannot say where it originated, but it was distinctly different from the general lingering odor present throughout the property. As the hotel is advertised as non-smoking, this was particularly disappointing and may be important information for travelers with asthma, allergies, smoke sensitivities, or other respiratory concerns. Our greatest concern, however, was the bathroom. There was extensive visible mould or mould-like growth, particularly around the shower and window areas, along with peeling paint, deteriorating finishes, and signs of ongoing moisture issues. The bathroom had a ceiling extractor fan that appeared to be operating, but it provided very little noticeable ventilation. What made this especially striking was that the bathroom window had already been left slightly open when we arrived. Even with that window partially open, the extractor fan running, and the bathroom door left open after showering, the room retained a remarkable amount of moisture. The mirror remained heavily covered with condensation for more than thirty minutes after use. As a guest, it was difficult not to wonder how long these ventilation issues had been present. There were additional maintenance concerns as well. A large floor tile in the bathroom was cracked, loose, and shifted underfoot when stepped on. Various areas showed signs of wear, deterioration, and what appeared to be previous moisture-related damage. While some of these issues might be dismissed individually as cosmetic, taken together they suggested a property that was not receiving the level of upkeep one would reasonably expect. The room itself was also lacking in cleanliness and comfort. We found cobwebs in several locations, including a ceiling cobweb occupied by a spider. The mattress was among the most uncomfortable I have encountered in a hotel. By our final evening, my husband requested an extra blanket from housekeeping so we could place it beneath me as additional cushioning because the springs were pressing into my hip. It is fair to ask why we remained for the duration of our stay. We were traveling with pre-booked transportation and activities throughout the Highlands, and alternative accommodations in Inverness appeared limited during our visit. Relocating mid-trip would have been difficult and disruptive. Remaining at the property should not be interpreted as an indication that the conditions were acceptable to us. I took numerous photographs documenting the bathroom conditions and other maintenance concerns. I am sharing this review not out of a desire to criticize for the sake of criticism, but because future guests deserve an accurate picture of what we experienced. The hotel occupies a convenient location and has the potential to be much better than our experience suggests. However, in its current state, the issues involving smoke odor, ventilation, mould, maintenance, cleanliness, and overall comfort are difficult to overlook. My hope is that these concerns are addressed so that future travelers can enjoy a very different experience from ours.

Easy to check in and out, room was genuinely really nice and clean and had all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.
