Glengarry Castle Hotel

I stayed here for one night on my GGW Walk and was super excited to stay as it looked fantastic! Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised to find I had a room on the top floor with a bath. This was an absolute plus after a long day walking. The bedroom was lovely and very grand and I had a great nights sleep. The grounds were lovely and I can imagine if I had more time there I could have easily spent a day exploring and watching the nearby water. I had dinner in the restaurant where it cost 2 courses for £42. The food matched the vibe of the place and was very grand set in a lovely dining room. It was a set menu with around 4 different options for each starter/main/dessert. I did feel after walking around 25km that day I needed more of a heavier meal - burger, lasagna etc but there was not much else in the local area. This is just a personal preference but one for walkers to be aware of! Breakfast again was grand, with lots of options to choose from - fruit, yogurt, full breakfast, vegi breakfast, etc

This is an amazing hotel. Great setting and lovely grounds. We paid extra for a room with a view and it was really worth it. On our next Highland trip we'll consider staying here for longer and use it as a base for visiting Glencoe, Loch Ness etc. We ate in the restaurant and it was one of the best meals we had in Scotland. Staff are very friendly, and many of them are part of the family that own the place. They are a bit old fashioned and not into modern tech. For us that was part of the charm, but just be aware.

On a trip to Isle of Skye, a serious highway accident and road closure forced us to backtrack and find an overnight accommodation. The Glengarry Castle Hotel was relatively close by and had a vacancy for one night. Donald, the host provided us with an upgraded suite that turned out to be one of the highlights of our vacation in Scotland. The property, hotel, and our room were fabulous. Our dinner and included breakfast were perfect. We were amazed at how this negative detour in our trip turned out to be so positive. Thank you to Donald and his staff for a wonderful stay.
