Macdonald Morlich Hotel

Our group stayed for 2 nights. The room was comfortable. Make sure you have adapters for your electronics. Outlets minimal. Breakfast comprehensive. Small town within walking distance. Nearby restaurants need reservations. Giovanni9's very good. Raincoat and umbrella imperative.

Obsolete complex with maintenance arrears. Price quality ratio not in balance. Does not live up to expectations based on website and photos. Pool, sauna and steam room are good. Bathroom needs renovation, water pressure is too low and sealant seams are loose. Flooring in the room and hallway show stains.

Booked a 1 night stay at this hotel for my partners birthday. From start to finish, it was a huge disappointment. Upon arrival, we were met by a really lovely girl on reception who was full of smiles but short on actual useful information. We were told none of the facilities in our actual hotel were available - so no bar, no dinner and the breakfast was in one of the other hotels about a 5 minute walk away. Not ideal when we had booked this hotel specifically because of everything it was meant to have onsite. Thankfully, we booked ourselves into The Winking Owl on the high street which was absolutely amazing and had the best food and drinks as well as a bar next door with live music. The bedroom was nice but no better than a Premier Inn. The bed was really comfy though. Other than that, not much to write home about. The TV was awful, you have literally no channels so was pointless being in the room at all. Then we get to the 'pool' which was basically just a kids session with floats and waves. The jacuzzi didn't work and you couldn't get into the steam rom or sauna as that's where any adult was hiding to escape the hoard of children everywhere. Lockers barely worked and the changing rooms were awful. Really enjoyed the flume though! Bit of a novelty but great fun. If you are looking for a decent nights sleep, this isn't the hotel for you. Its constant noise in the corridors and the walls are made of paper. We could hear the people next door using the toilet! And the shower which was a waterfall shower left the bathroom floor soaked as the glass screen barely covered the side of the shower. Breakfast was average, not what I expected from a 4* hotel at all. Finally, we had room 155 ( I think!) and the fire door directly next to it had no doorstop so every time it was opened, it slammed against our wall. We mentioned a few things upon departure and the guy on reception honestly looked like he couldn't care less. Just stared at us with a bored look on his face and said he'd pass the comments on. Basically, if you are looking for a 4* hotel and experience don't stay here. There are so many other hotels around that would be so much better.
