Dont be fooled by the grand staircase. Rooms are dated, dirty and in need of some tlc. We arrived for our wedding anniversary treat while touring Scotland. On arrival the staff gave us our key and no extra information. We went to the furthest point opened our door and was very disappointed.. Twin beds, damp in the corners, cobwebs and the windowsill was full of bird poo and the window open with a smell in the room. We complained and were told we had not requested a double bed but luckily i had confirmation... the gentleman was very rude and said it wasnt on their system... (even though i had proof) it came down to my word against his... The lady receptionist could see i was frustrated and eventually managed to swap our room to a double bed.. Again room needed tlc but we managed. On arrival the next morning for breakfast which was included in our booking we were told to sit down at an unprepared table no cutlery, or cups and no explanation of what was expected of us.... we had a wander and i went to reception who Informed me a continental breakfast was included not a hot one.. Again i pointed out communication would of been great.. There was a choice of cold meats and cheeses, however there were some flies which liked them as it was all uncovered.. we went for cereal as it was sealed in boxes and toast.. It is very apparent that people are treated differently at this hotel and Americans seem to be there favourite even providing a piper on the stairs when they depart.... I would not waste your money here for a high end hotel the staff need more training and definitely needs a revamp. We had better service at the travel lodge..

Stayed here for a second visit sue to work commitments. Staff are lovely and friendly. Room was large with big bed which was comfy. The only thing was the room was very warm, there was a fan but it was full of dust really needs a good clean. Food was good snd would deffo return

This well established and historic hotel is attached to Inverness railway station, which is why I chose so I was close to picking up my train the following day. Very grand entrance hall and stairway, which gives incredible atmosphere to the place. My room was on the 3rd floor which was in the eaves and had a good sized bathroom. Whilst being very clean, it was a little dated but great to have a USB connection in the room. I didn’t eat here, so couldn’t say anything about the food. There is a big dining hall which looked like a couple of coach trips in situ. There was also a cafe/ which was open to the public as well which looked nice. They were very happy to hold my bags for me as well
