Claremont Hotel

The Claremont’s location is excellent, but unfortunately, that was the strongest aspect of our stay. Although the hotel is rated four stars, our experience was closer to that of a two-star property. The building is badly in need of repairs and modernization. The hallways are unusually dark, with the lights switching on only after someone begins walking through them. This is particularly concerning because some of the doorways are extremely low. My husband hit his head on one because the hallway was too dark for him to see it clearly. This is not merely inconvenient; it is a safety issue. Our room was very small, and the bathroom was extremely disappointing and far below what one would expect from a four-star hotel. When we asked for water to be brought to our room, we were simply told that the hotel does not provide that service. The lack of parking should be disclosed prominently and in large print before guests make a reservation. There is also no doorman or porter to assist with luggage. The receptionists did their best to help us, and we appreciated their efforts, but they should not be expected to leave the front desk and carry guests’ bags. My husband would normally have handled our luggage himself, but he had injured his back and genuinely needed assistance. The staff members were pleasant and tried to be helpful, but the hotel itself does not live up to its four-star designation. The property requires significant improvements in maintenance, lighting, safety, room quality, and guest services.

The hotel has a good restaurant and the food offered on our ‘package’ was nicely served by friendly staff and enjoyed. Disappointed with the size of our room at the back without a view. But clean and comfortable. Location is good for the ferry, steam train and Manx museum but not close to the Electric Railway.

Absolutely 10/10 …. Location, cleanliness of the hotel, Upgraded to sea view room. Literally sank into Hungarian pillows and tempur mattress, penhaligons freebies wow what a delight. Very attentive and helpful staff fresh towels and bedding everyday. Breakfast unbelievably delicious, Scramble eggs and bacon a must try different level👌👌👌👍. Beautiful view of Conisters rock lit up at night. Thank you to Gina and all staff will definitely return!! A very enjoyable stay to a lovely little island with very very friendly people. X
