Hotel De Normandie

From the outside this looks a really nice hotel. Very impersonal and if you are vegetarian or request a special diet - forget it! When I booked i mentioned i was vegetarian but they were dismissive and I managed to get one evening meal out of 5 nights. I felt disrespected and ill from lack of proper food by the end of the holiday. Also dried eggs, packet potato, poor quality frozen veg and watered down baked beans. My last meal was mashed potato and poor quality frozen veg. Dumfounded! o

A very good location, laid back atmosphere, a bit apart from the actual city centre, with restaurants, beach and natural swimming pool nearby. Reliable bus service. Our room was average. A bit small and really too hot, probably because it was close to the indoor swimming pool and sauna. No air conditionning. We had to sleep with open windows, which is not ideal in terms of noise. Cleaning was average as well. We stayed 4 nights and our room was not hoovered. Breakfast was fine, though quite busy and served in a room with no natural light. Staff was very helpful. Dedicated bike rack with CCTV.

Just returned from a weeks stay at Hotel de Normandie. Was apprehensive before arrival as there had been negative reviews however we had a lovely stay. Check in was easy and staff were lovely and friendly. Our room was lovely and clean and spacious with up to date decor. Yes some of the passages were a bit dated but would rather have that and a better quality room. Bathroom was clean and shower was absolutely fine we had no issues with the temperature of the shower during our stay. The room also had a fan which was good as we did have good weather during our stay. Housekeeping went in every day and did a good job. Breakfast was lovely so many options! There really was something for everyone and the staff were so efficient we had breakfast every morning bar one and there was always plenty of food even if we went a bit later. Breakfast running until 10:30 is a bonus as well on the weekend. On previous reviews it complains about the fruit being tinned there was tinned fruit out however there was also plenty of fresh fruit available. The terrace was such a bonus as a place to either get a drink on a night time or somewhere to read your book on a morning. The location is really good right on the beach and right next to bus stops to take you in to town or it’s about a 15 minute walk into town. The only areas I think could be improved would be a fridge in the room and the mini bar in reception is very expensive better to just go to the bar. Our flight home wasn’t until late afternoon so we were able to leave our cases and the receptionist was able to book a taxi for us. Would definitely return!
