Best Western Rose and Crown

Beautiful building, great service from all staff but special mention for Sian who made sure I got my taxi safely.

The Rose and crown is a very historic hotel at the bottom of East Hill in Colchester, right in between two road junctions and very close to the railway. Although the location is good for walking up into the town, it is the slightly scruffy end of town and The road noise begins at 5 o’clock in the morning. With the historic aspect comes a number of features such as wonky floors, low ceilings with exposed beams, and windows which letting in a lot of the noise. In room 205, The shower and bath were powerful And warm that there was quite a bit of dust in the corners of the room, especially along the edge of the carpet, and along the wooden carving features of the Four poster bed. I could also hear the tv of room 204 next door. Luckily, the staff were extremely friendly, professional and attentive. Particular shout out to Roshne in breakfast the next morning Who was polite, helpful, and gave service with a smile. The receptionist staff were also friendly.

Arrived and went to pay for stay but won’t accept cash ?? . Not advertised or expected only took cash, luckily wife had a card . Spoilt whole stay as was going to eat and drink in bar , one of the reasons for booking this hotel was the bar. We found elsewhere but may as well of stayed elsewhere
