The George

Lovely hotel and the food is excellent. Shame the staff are so rude. Simply because of the staff's poor attitude I would neither recommend nor return.

Check in was welcoming though did have to pay upfront. Room so spacious and comfortable with air conditioning. No noise from outside so slept very well. Bar and restaurant staff friendly and attentive. All in all a good find and very affordable, would definitely recommend.

We recently held a hen party in the Tudor Room at The George, Colchester, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. A huge thank you to Charlie, who looked after us throughout the entire day. She was warm, friendly, incredibly attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed from the moment we arrived until the end of the evening. The whole event was expertly overseen by Paula, the Events Manager, who worked with us to create a truly bespoke celebration that was exactly what we had hoped for. The food was outstanding. From the beautifully presented afternoon tea to the delicious evening meal, everything was fresh, plentiful, and absolutely amazing. We had a variety of allergies and dietary requirements within our group, and every single one was catered for seamlessly. Everyone was made to feel included, with no one feeling awkward or like an afterthought, which meant so much to us. The service, attention to detail, and care shown by the whole team were second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, and they genuinely helped make the day unforgettable. We honestly couldn't have asked for the day to go any better. Thank you to Charlie, Paula, and everyone at The George for making our hen celebration so special. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The George to anyone looking for a venue that offers exceptional food, outstanding service, and a truly personal touch.
