Wivenhoe House

We recently celebrated our civil wedding at Wivenhoe House Hotel. From the start of the planning process Lisa and all of the team had been so helpful and supportive. They ensured the day ran seamlessly and all our guests were attended to. The venue was beautiful and all of our guests had a good time. The rooms we stayed in were high quality, very clean and comfortable. Dietary requirements are accommodated for in the Park Brasserie restaurant and the portion sizes are generous. Had afternoon Tea back in June ............I have purposely taken this long to review on google to check how much I was charged on my statement ...............after paying my bill I was charged a £12 service charge .............when I went to the Bar to pay it was not made clear that there was a charge added that apparently could be removed ...............that is if you know about it !! ...........I therefore asked for it to be removed as the service had been "mediocre " and was assured I would be refunded ..............Lies very poor business practice to tell someone that a refund is being put through when after 1 month clearly it wasn't ! ..........especially as it took at least 10 minutes to find someone who could implement this

Booked 2 rooms at £170 each per night. On the face of it luxury accommodation, but in practice found wanting as although temperatures down to a maximum daytime of 22 degrees outside, one of the rooms in particular was impossible to sleep in. The other room was disappointing as the shower temperature was scalding, so forced to use the other one down the corridor. This was a special occasion spoilt by the lack of basic provision.
