Gainsborough Hotel

I made a reservation for one night on a bank holiday weekend through Booking.com, The hotel owner called me three days before the arrival date and tricked me into cancelling by telling me he had a flood and that I needed to cancel and he would give me a full refund. He now denies ever calling me and says he never had a flood and refuses a refund even though I can prove he did call me, I have been scammed and Booking.com refuse to help me because he telephoned me directly and left no trace on there website so it is my word against his and they do not want to get involved and will not support me. please read and believe other reviewers comments about this hotel and its owners bad attitude towards his guests, because of him I could not find another hotel at such short notice and ended up eight miles away and paying half as much again. He is a conman stealing from his customers so under no circumstances make a reservation at this hotel or through Booking.com as they will not support you if you get scammed. Please, Please do not book this hotel you will regret it. It is cheap for a reason and is not worth being shafted just to try and save a few quid for a cheap stay, He is not to be trusted, You have been warned.

Hi, I live in Blackpool and The Gainsborough is my local bar. Both staff and owners are always extremely friendly and helpful. Love sitting on the recently refurbished terrace listening to golden oldies and watching the world go by. Note This premises is currently going through various stages of renovation but the terrace at weekends is always the place to be 👍👍👍

Do not stay here at all costs and especially if you have children. Arrogant, cocky and rude style of management. Upon check up, I was greeted by the owner who basically flung my room key at me with no information regarding check out times or breakfast (the chef wasn't working that weekend) before vanishing. I quickly drop my bags in before going on. I later return for a breather and a cuppa coffee (no spoons or toilet roll in the room). I then head back out to play bingo etc till about half 10 which is when the issues became apparent. I went to plug my phone in by my bed and the socket cover had come away. I then go in the bathroom and there's two or three cracked floor tiles (I put my hand on one tile and it felt like there was a fake floor underneath). Finally I approach the management about my concerns and request a refund only to be told to fetch my stuff, hand over my room key and get out (probably won't get a refund). So from midnight till around 5.30am I was on the streets of Blackpool of which I'm still pretty much poorly (I almost had an asthma attack at 5.15am). Thankfully I'm now safely back at home. I have since received a phone call from the owner who basically threatened me. I have since been advised by a friend to contact the police as a result
