Tewitfield Marina

Fabulous place. Staff all friendly & helpful. Exceptionally clean. Comfortable bed. Loved the swans on the Marina. Great Hotel next door . Longlands. Gorgeous food . Greenland's Farm, shop & Cafe across the road, highly recommend a visit.

We had been staying in Wales and we live in Scotland so wanted somewhere to stay halfway home since it always feels longer on the way home! We loved the location right next to the marina and our view included boats moored up. The place has everything you need, but we only stayed one night and only used the facilities to make a tea after returning from dinner. Everything was clean, but the sink in the toilet didn't drain well and the toilet seat was a bit wobbly. We did leave a note since we had no face-to-face contact with reception during our stay. The M6 is very nearby, but we stayed in Swan so when the windows were closed, we didn't hear a thing. I would imagine if the weather had been warmer and we needed the windows open, it would have been almost unbearable, so I was actually glad for the cooler weather! They left a dog bed, a blanket, a towel (with a note not to take it home), and a ball and treats for the dog (as well as bowls, but we always bring our own, so didn't use them). On the surface, that seems fantastically dog friendly, but you pay a dog charge so you've basically bought everything they leave anyway. For an overnight stay, I would say it was OK value, especially considering the cost to stay next door at the hotel. We couldn't have dinner there (they didn't have any dog tables available) and opted for dinner elsewhere, but did have breakfast there the next morning. I would say we might stay again if it fit in our route home, as access to the canal was on the door step and who doesn't love having boats moored in your front garden??

Great location for trips off with easy access to the motorway. The marina is a lovely complex and very relaxing with noise from the local road and nearby M6 not too bad when windows are closed. Mallard 10 was a lovely corner apartment with upstairs balcony which would be a nice place to unwind in the summer. The apartment itself was stocked with plenty of utensils in kitchen and bedrooms with the only let down being the cleanliness and overall worn look upon entering. Little things like marks on walls, mark on ceiling which looked as though it had been a leak from bathroom previously, crumbs on the carpets and floor, dirty chair arms, cobwebs visible in a few areas, front door didn't shut correctly without a bit of force, door key was bent upon retrieval from key safe. We felt as though the apartment would benefit being re-decorated and given a general overall clean. The marina is handy for local bus between the lakes and Lancaster and the Longlands hotel an ideal place to unwind with some great food and drink available. Parking was excellent and allowed us to park right outside the apartment itself.
