Booked a last minute all inclusive break and had a lovely stay. Rooms a little tired but spotlessly clean with good bedding and fluffy towels. Breakfast very enjoyable with a cooked to order menu, which is much better than a buffet. Dinner a very good experience and plenty is choice, served by attentive staff.Bar service and good choices on all inclusive. The highlight has to be the staff in every area which was exceptional and really made our stay perfect. Thank you and we will return.

Dearest Gentle Reader This reviewer has lived within 10 miles of Ramsbottom for well over 40 years but this is the first time I have visited and I took it upon myself to have an overnight staycation at the Old Mill Hotel. I have known the name for a long time and have often toyed with the idea of sampling it. They have various offers from time to time and the one that caught my eye was a bed and breakfast deal with a soup and sandwich lunch included, £25 towards dinner, complimentary drinks and also a 45 minute hot tub experience. I felt it offered extremely good value. The hotel is located just outside the centre of Ramsbottom in a very tranquil and rural setting. Ramsbottom is a wonderfully rejuvenated market town complete with an old steam railway line. It was a delight to spend an hour or so this afternoon wandering about and drinking in the atmosphere. The hotel offers ample parking and, on arrival, the building and the grounds set an immediate atmosphere of peace and tranquility. I was warmly greeted on entering reception and my booking and my package were accurately confirmed. I was given clear directions to Room 28, which was ready on time for an early 14:00 check in. The room was adequately proportioned with a double bed with coordinated furniture that provided plenty of storage space. There was an opening window and a wall mounted TV. The bathroom was also of respectable proportions with a deep soaking tub, which is something I always strive to have when I book a hotel . They were ample fluffy towels and the robe available in the hot tub area could be brought back to the room for use throughout the stay. All surfaces were absolutely clean and the room was modern and airy, with a gentle flow of fresh air coming in the window. All meals were taken in the Sir Robert Peel restaurant, and I was encouraged to pre-order my choice of sandwich after booking. I also received an invitation to check in online the day before my arrival. On entering the restaurant, I hadn’t given my name yet they already knew exactly who I was and what I had ordered. That impressed me. The food portions were generous and everything tasted very fresh and quite delicious. I thought it good when I turned up for my hot tub booking and was collected from reception by Tyler (who had served me in the restaurant at lunchtime) and he escorted me to the private hot tub area at the rear of the hotel. It was designed to be surrounded by mature trees and natural vegetation and gave the illusion of being situated in a quite remote and isolated location. The hot tub was set at a very comfortable temperature and I could adjust this up or down if necessary. My session was for 45 minutes but I was advised proactively that I was the last booking of the day and was welcome to stay as long as I wanted. Tyler was very warm and friendly and chatted to me with genuine interest as we walked through the grounds to the tub. He was an excellent ambassador for the hotel. Dinner was a most enjoyable experience, and it would’ve been possible to eat well, within the monetary allowance of my deal, but I decided to go beyond and pay the difference It was excellent value. All items were generous and were prepared to perfection. Tyler was again my server and once more was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable in all his interactions with guests. There were no disturbances at all during the night and the room was pretty much silent, with the calming sound of wood pigeons, drifting through the open window. I slept very well, though the pillows were a little lumpy. Breakfast was a simple buffet for the small but adequate continental offering, and a selection of hot options were provided by an individually prepared table service. The breakfast items were of good quality and everything tasted deliciously fresh. Checkout was at 11:00 and again the staff member dealing with me was excellent and friendly. He left me with a very positive final impression. A most excellent visit.
