Mercure Leicester City

Second night of a two night stay was a write off because of a wedding do at the hotel that ran til 1am. Ruined our plans for the second day as we didn't sleep until 2am and then were unable to do what we planned to do. Bass through the floor, whole room properly vibrating. Not the worst part though - the events supervisor, Tyler, told us straight up that he'd personally signed off the noise level (110db, apparently) and the finish time, and that he already knew rooms get affected when they host these things. So this wasn't some unlucky one-off, it was agreed in advance and nobody told us at check-in. We were calm about it all night, just wanted actual answers. Didn't get any. "I couldn't comment on that" when we asked if it's reasonable to keep paying guests up half the night. Got offered an "apology" that was literally "I apologise if this has caused any inconvenience" - if. Kept steering it back to the wedding party's booking being contracted, like that trumped us being able to sleep in a room we'd paid for. Two room moves offered, both useless, one had broken aircon. Avoid this location

If staying in Leicester, I would highly recommend staying here. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance from train station and central to most things. The hotel is clean, modern and reasonably priced. All staff at the hotel were friendly and the rooms have everything you need, from iron and ironing board, tea and coffee facilities and a safe. The beds are very comfortable, we had the best nights sleep.

A great hotel in the centre of town. Check-in was excellent. At breakfast the service was impeccable. Paid parking at the back of the hotel with easy access. The lift was not working on the departure day, but staff were happy to take your bags downstairs with minimal inconvenience
