Not sure where all these 5 stars have come from because this hotel is like the land time forgot.
The staff are wonderful and 5 stars to them and why I've given a 3 overall but the hotel itself I wouldn't give a 1.
The first room we walked into looked like faulty towers. The smell of aftershave that hit us was overpowering but that I'd have tried to stomach if it wasn't for the holes in the ceiling over bed, the light hanging out of the ceiling, the light switches that were broken and wobbling and weren't useable, the desk had all the trim pulled apart.
The second room we've had to live with but I wiped the sides over and the dirt on the bedside tables looked like it hadn't had a wipe in over a year. There's mould and rust in the bathroom and something on the toilet seat I don't want to sit on.
I'm not a hotel snob, I travel for work and only stay in Premier Inns because I trust their food is safe for coeliac and the rooms are generally to a decent standard, what happened here god only knows but its sad because its so unloved and uncared for.
Earlier this week I was in Stockport in a hotel that was a building site and being renovated and frankly it felt cleaner and more welcoming in those conditions.
I feel for the staff on reception.
