stayed here with Caledonian travel F1 weekend hotel was excellent rooms were lovely food was great - my daughter with food allergies was accommodated with a smile staff were great hope to come back

Possibly the worst Hotel experience I have ever had. We were in the area for my son’s work experience, picked the hotel because of the gym and location. After a long first day of work (15 yoa) we returned to the hotel, arrived to the restaurant at 20.25 to eat, advised by the staff we needed a voucher to eat in the restaurant but that where stopping service at 20.30 so no available food. I asked could we eat at the bar and just order some steak from the menu I was advised that the chef had shut down the kitchen so nothing they could do here. We were advised to head to town if we wanted food. Next day we went to use the gym facilities to be advised we would have to pay an extra charge if we wanted to (this blew my logic for choosing the hotel!) If we then move on to the rooms , the bed’s uncomfortable the furniture dated and tired and the windows about to fall out! Additionally we got back from work on the second day to find the room had not been cleaned or tidied and or fresh towels supplied. When I enquired on their policy the receptionist advised as we are staying three nights that they only clean every five days! I did question this and he confirmed it again, I requested clean towels which appeared not to be the norm as he asked me to come back to Reception later as he would have to get some. Undoubtably the worst hotel experience in my lifetime and also to quote a 15 year old “he wouldn’t go back there ever!”

The location and gardens are lovely, plenty of parking and the building itself is stunning. Reception staff were all lovely and my room was fine - until the heat registered. The bar area was incredibly hot, no fans or air conditioning - it was the practice event for trying to sleep in my bedroom - genuinely unbearable. I only had a bar snack (fishfinger sandwich), which was lovely to be fair, so I can't really comment on the food overall. I'd just say this - the place needs a bit of a makeover, it's a little tired but clean and very tidy. The bar man was slightly grumpy but I reckon it was because he was working in a sauna. The bedrooms need a fan as a minimum. I would stay again, just not when it was 28 degrees.
