The room was generally dirty: stains on the walls and the solid carpet, thick layer of dust, hinges of the door were damaged as if someone had broken them in. The wardrobe couldn't close because of damaged doors. The entire building is in desperate need of renovation: floors creaked everywhere. Reported to reception but they did nothing with the info. Please note that extra deposit is required despite the room being paid in advance. Please avoid this hotel.

What a difference in 11 months, being part of a group of friends we stayed last year, which was amazing the staff/employees couldn't do enough for us, on this occasion 11 of us stayed, rooms not ready people waiting at reception for hours, no staff, one person booking guest into rooms which where not ready, after waiting all that time, and this one person was also expected to do the bar at the same time, which obviously was not open, Mecure must be losing thousands of pounds in turnover, no team/staff and I felt so sorry for the couple who were around to run things, they really did work hard, false economy! breakfast cold only 3 hot drinks available in the coffee machine, food cold, I was embarrassed because I told friends how perfect things were!

Lovely looking hotel and pleasingly central. Clean room but small and tired. Despite the huge fan, the room remained approximately the surface temperature of Mars. No hand towels, but not really an issue, as no soap anyway! Went for breakfast at 7.30 but apparently no eggs available for another 15 minutes. No one around to ask about allergens so as a coeliac needing gluten free I could only safely have bacon and beans for breakfast….
