Just checked out from hotel makadonia contary to previous posts this is a lovely hotel new carpets certainly up to the second floor I was on lovely rooms with a great clean laminate floor room was very clean and tidy staff were more than helpful to someone who doesn't know the area fantastic price and would recommend to anyone

This is the worst hotel I've ever been to. The hotel is filthy and so is the room. The mattress was dirty, felt and looked like nothing was washed for ages. The bathroom was smelly and the shower was dirty in a way that I had to skip.. Coffee cups had lipstick and coffee stains. The list goes on but I guess you get the point. KEEP AWAY! I didn't even go to check breakfast as the only thing I wanted was to get out of this place.. TERRIBLE! The person at the reception was very friendly and welcoming, this is the only positive thing I can say about this place.

Myself and a colleague booked to stay at Hotel Makedonia which was booked for our trip to London for a course we were attending. We had booked somewhere relatively close to venue our course was. We weren’t expecting anything special but at least thought it would be clean. The outside of the hotel was not how pictured and presents as run down. The restaurants attached makes the hotel look slightly nicer than it is. The entrance is not very inviting with no skirting boards and ripped carpets. We were given a room on the 4th floor. There was no lift and the stairs were narrow and steep with ripped, taped up carpet all the way up. The top floor has a box above which meant you had to walk sideways past on the stairs otherwise, you’d bump your head! The room itself was awful and wasn’t even clean. The windows were filthy and looked out at the prison. There was a fly squashed on the the window. The bed had several hairs in the bed, a whole in the sheet and a mould looking stain on the pillow. There was a browny coloured hand print on the wall and the wardrobe door had what looked like a punch mark on the door. The tea and coffee tray was covered in dust. The toilet and shower were also dirty. We spoke to the receptionist about the issues and how we felt we could not stay there and she was not very sympathetic at all. She did not offer to rectify the issue or offer an alternative. We asked to speak to the manager and we were told this was someone called George however he was not available to talk to and would not be free until the following week. We contacted booking.com whom we booked the hotel through and they attempted to gain a refund however the hotel refused and tried to say we had used the facilities. There has been no acknowledgement or apology for our experience which I think is appalling. We were not expecting a palace but a hotel with 3 stars should be at least clean. I would be surprised if this even passed health and safety standards if I’m honest and awarding a 1star is more appropriate. Avoid at all costs!!!
