Durrants

I had a generally good stay, but it started off quite disappointingly. I had booked a single room with air-conditioning, as it was the hottest part of July. Unfortunately, on arrival I discovered the room only had a fan. The window opened just a couple of inches and looked directly onto a ventilation shaft, surrounded by walls and kitchen or air-conditioning units from other rooms, so there was no fresh air or breeze. The room itself felt old, a bit worn and peeling, and was quite depressing and uncomfortable to spend time in. After checking my booking and seeing that air-conditioning was included, I went down to reception. Thankfully, the staff were very helpful and found me another room straight away. The new room was a complete contrast—light, bright, clean, modern, and much more comfortable. It is a shame I wasn’t given that room in the first place, as the first few hours were not a great experience. I do think it’s important when booking this otherwise charming, old-school hotel to ensure you are allocated one of the newly renovated rooms. Once moved, however, the stay improved significantly and the rest of the hotel experience was very enjoyable.

I stayed here for 2 nights fr a family event which was excellently managed. In fact, the whole experience was lovely. My room wasn’t air conditioned, but with a fan & the windows open, I was quite comfortable My greatest praise though is for the staff. Every single 1 of them was polite & charming & couldn’t do enough for us Durrants may not be as swanky as some London hotels, but that is in its favour in my opinion.

The hotel was nice and clean and we were able to check in 2 hours early. We booked this hotel due to its proximity to Hyde Park and as only for 1 night, we booked a standard double room. The room had no air con and looked out onto a brick wall. We were provided with a rotating fan but with the heatwave we’ve been having, it wasn’t very effective. The room was small, but we expected that but for £300 for the night, we felt it was an expensive room for what it was. You wouldn’t want to spend more than 1 night in this room. On the plus side, the room was clean and had the usual amenities and check in was seamless.
