It saddens me to write this review for I have visited this hotel with family and solo on many occasions over the years and always had wonderful stays. However this trip has been very different, I’m not sure if it was because I booked via a booking website and saved myself over £100 on the room compared to the weekend rate quoted on their website but I found myself in a room that was not as good as I usually have I don’t get me wrong it was clean and adequate but not what I’m used to in this hotel. Also no welcome drink on arrival which all other quests were receiving again I put this down to my saving online. The one real sticky point though was the service by some of the food and beverage staff. I tried to order a drink from the bar at 11pm and was told by an Eastern European woman with purple spiked hair to go to reception and they would sort it out! I was left feeling like an inconvenience rather than a customer, I didn’t bother with the drink. The same person was running breakfast and again I was left feeling the same as the previous evening I can only assume she remembered me asking for a drink from the bar at 11pm. The attention to detail and attentiveness to customers seems to have waned by the wayside somewhat which is a real shame. This used to be way more than a four star hotel it gave six star service it remembered its returning customers and looked after them. Sadly this seems not to have been the case for me this trip.

London is one of my favorite cities and I try to travel there as often as my budget allows. I can say without hesitation that The Rembrandt is one of my absolute favorite places to stay while visiting the capital. The location, just a short walk from the South Kensington tube and directly across the street from the V&A is an ideal base for sightseeing. There are restaurants and cafes galore in that area, including Mayfair Chippy. Harrods is only a few blocks away and posh shops abound. The lobby is a pretty and calm oasis and the front desk staff were all friendly and accommodating with every interaction I had with them. Our room was lovely, on the street side of the hotel and overlooking the V&A and the traffic noise from the street was minimal and didn’t impact our sleeping at all. The king bed was so comfy I could have lounged around well into the morning hours if there wasn’t so much to do in London! Every morning my husband and I enjoyed a hearty and extensive breakfast, which was included with our room, in the tastefully decorated restaurant downstairs. Offerings included a full English breakfast via a hot buffet, a variety of egg options including a made-to-order omelette station, hot and cold cereals, meats and cheeses, croissants and pastries and fruits. I will add that my son works for a major hotel chain and we are eligible for family discounts through him, but The Rembrandt is still my top choice. Oh - and the rates are quite competitive as well. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong choosing The Rembrandt as your home base in London!

Dan, Neil, Scott and Pablo made me feel like Irish royalty from the moment I arrived. Special mention too for the bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff, who were all very friendly. Food was excellent too. Ideal location for Hyde Park and all the museums.
