Shaftesbury Premier London Paddington

Stayed in a single bed room and it was perfect for four nights. Clean and comfortable, though small. Not much room to open a large suitcase but that was expected. Some guest noise in the morning but my room was located near the lift. Had a nice window on floor 5. Location is great—only 5 min walk from Paddington station. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly, and the room felt modern and well maintained. We also had a great night’s sleep, and the location is very convenient for the Tube. However, the room was extremely cramped, and we struggled to find space for our suitcases. While comfortable enough for a short stay, it didn’t feel like a five-star experience or offer the value we expected for the price paid. A few additional touches would have made a difference, such as a smart TV, fresh milk, and a coffee machine in the room. Check-in could also be improved, as very little information was provided about the hotel’s facilities, breakfast arrangements, or check-out times. At breakfast, we sat waiting for a while before realising tea and coffee were self-service, so some guidance from staff would have been appreciated. One safety concern was the staircase layout, where the doorway at the bottom is so narrow that people effectively need to go down one at a time. Overall, the hotel is clean, comfortable, and well located, but given the room size and lack of some expected amenities, I don’t feel it offers five-star value for money.
