Do not book this hotel it is a hostel which is not fit for humans to stay in the room was disgusting dirty and smelled terrible we walked out and asked for refund and was denied avoid at all cost

Hard to believe but I used to go to this hotel on an almost monthly basis while working nearby. Those days are, I hope, over. I previously left a couple of balanced reviews noting positive and negative points, and trying to look on the bright side, saying it could be okay if you can tolerate some shortcomings. However, I would now like to rescind whatever positive I previously said. In my last visit I was given a room, one of the single (rooms, 35) that smelled of mould outrageously. I couldn't bear to be in it for more than about 10 seconds. I can be tolerant of a few shortcomings, but being shown to a room that is not fit for human habitation is beyond the pale. Anybody staying in that room should get a free G.P. visit and lung x-ray included. I went back to reception and they gave me a different room, this time room 36 - right next to the mouldy room! Well this one at least didn't seem to have the mould issue but still wasn't at all happy to be right next to the other room. Most of the other negative comments you've read on this site are true. The mattresses tend to be in terrible shape. Old, old junky box spring mattresses (not modern pocket spring mattress) that should've been replaced 20 years ago. Some rooms are better than others and if you are on an extreme tight budget then it might fit the bill for a night in some circumstances, although I don't recommend it. The worst are the single rooms, that are generaly all quite small and have very thin walls, and have almost no light. They look out on the back of a hill where people have thrown various items out of the windows over the years. The double rooms are a bit better but they also vary quite a bit and generally not of the standard you are expecting. Yes another issue that i've read from other reviews is that a couple of people received parking fines and the hotel would not help them sort this out at all! Again, very very far from the level of customer service I expect. Such a shame as you can see that this was a nice hotel some 30 years ago or so but now needs a good £500-800k or more spent on it to even make a start on bringing it up to standards. Do not under any circumstances bring your wife or girfriend here or you will never hear the last of it. The only positive thing I have to say is that the hotel is conveniently located next to the M25.
