TL;DR: do not stay here. The owner doesn’t care what goes on inside the B&B. My stay was awful.
At 9PM, some gentlemen came into the sitting area and were conversing loudly. Only 9, so not an issue yet. Over the next 3 hours I asked them 3 separate times if they could quiet down so we could sleep. I was met with either indifference or outright hostility.
Around 12AM, the front door is slammed 5+ times over 10 minutes with these men going in and out of the building. Soon after, I’m delighted to piece together that these men are staying in the room directly above mine. Certain noises are coming from their beds for the next 30min (absolutely everything, especially the beds, creak here). Around 1 it did quiet down.
At 2:30, one of them was outside without a key. He rings the doorbell (it was a Ring that called the owner), yells, and pounds on all exterior doors. Finally he comes back to the front door (adjacent to my window) and knocks on our window while screaming. My wife is now woken up and scared. The owner finally lets him in.
One of the worst parts? The owner blamed us for not asking for a “quiet room” and said he has no responsibility for the conduct of his guests. He also called these men “fine Scottish gentlemen” as if that excuses their actions. He refused to issue any kind of remedy nor take any responsibility for what happens on his property. This place was a nightmare for someone wanting to stay at a BED and breakfast to sleep.
P.S. The hot water didn’t work.
